Second Grade Robots-WOW!

Second grade discovered that robots perform all sorts of tasks for humans and decided to design some robots of their own to help with all sorts of jobs! In order to make their robot pop off the page, second graders used tints and shades to make the robot appear 3-D.

First Grade Silhouettes

Is a silhouette a shadow or a shape?

It is a shape, created when light shines behind an object! First grade demonstrated their observational drawing skills and ability to blend watercolor in these lovely little works of art!

Mrs. Florczak is Making Art Too!

During demonstrations, students sometimes tell me that I should be "real artist" instead of a teacher. The compliment always makes me smile and is a good reminder to make my own art as well.
Below are my lastest creations:
(acrylic painting on canvas)
(chalkboard drawing)
(mixed media abstract)

Second Grade Ceramic Creatures

Wow Second Grade!
Each student created a rattling ceramic artwork by joining two pinch pots together with small clay beads inside. Slipping and scoring was to add the individual features to each character.

VanGogh Sunflowers

Vincent VanGogh was never famous in his lifetime, but now his artwork is the most recognizable in the world! First graders learned about VanGogh's technique of using thickly applied brush strokes called "Impasto." Each first grader painted their lively sunflowers using quick directional strokes in the style of Vincent VanGogh.
