First graders integrated their knowledge of using shapes to create more complex drawings in order to make these realistic birds. The inspiration for these artworks came from the traditional art form of Amate paper making and painting in Mexico. The use of bright colors is the hallmark of an Amate depiction of the local wildlife and village customs. Here first graders used warm, cool, and neutral colors as a composition tool, with one taking dominance in the picture.
