Third Grade creates African Folk Tales

Below is a sample of the African folk tales created by third graders. These tales were then used as inspiration for a three-dimensional mask. Pictures of the masks coming soon!

The Shadow
The shadow is an African legend. The shadow is awake while you sleep. The shadow lives a life of its own.

Anansi makes his Mark
Once in Africa an old and wise spider names Anansi was thinking to himself. “Why does sky god think python is so perfect? No one is perfect and I will prove it to sky god”
When he talked to him sky god was angry and said “I will only believe you if you can trap python in a web that he cannot escape. Only then will I admit I was wrong. If I win you can never use your wisdom again for good. So Anansi tied python to a rock and no matter how hard he tried he could not get away. In return, sky god held a ceremony in which sky god vowed to never call someone perfect again.
