Camouflage Animals in Art

Second grade students looked at the artwork of Henri Rousseau to discover how texture, color, and overlapping can help camouflage animals in their environment. After learning how to use hand measurements to check proportion and drawing shapes to create the form of the animal, students illustrated these fantastic creatures. The students used crayon resist and watercolor paints along with marker and oil pastel to create realistic hues for their animals and backgrounds.
