OP Art

Optical Art became popular in the late 1950’s when artists like Victor Vasarely began to show their artwork in galleries. Third graders learned to “trick the eye” by using converging lines, complimentary color and shading to create these amazing illusions.

Vanishing Point: The spot where all lines converge to show depth

Complimentary Colors: Colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel.

Shading: Adding a shadow to make a drawing appear three-dimensional
